Arrest made after rape of 11-year-old girl in Highland Park

Police say they arrested a man suspected of raping a 11-year-old girl in Highland Park.

The alleged assault happened on Dec. 10.

The girl told police she was on her way to school when she was abducted at gunpoint and raped inside an abandoned building.

Since Highland Park police released a composite sketch of the suspect, community activists have organized search efforts to catch the man.

Investigators say they used social media to get help from the public, eventually making an arrest.

He is expected to be arraigned in the coming days.
