Aspiring young nurse from Detroit killed in her own driveway

A gunman is still on the run months after shooting and killing an aspiring young nurse in her own driveway.

It happened Sunday, March 11, around 9 p.m. on Mark Twain near Joy Road on the city's west side. At just 23 years old, Keyaira Cheatham sat with her boyfriend in the back of her Ford Escape, when an unknown suspect fired shots into the car, killing Keyaira.

"Keyaira was not your typical, run of the mill person. She was a good sweetheart, kind, loving person who helps others and doesn't want anything in return," her mother Holly said.

She attended Central HS, was a majorette, and played the clarinet. She wanted to be a nurse. Now Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 reward for an arrest in this unsolved crime.

"Every time I ride past that street I think about having to go there and my god sister was lying on that ground for all those hours," said Keyaira's sister Angel Johnson.
