Body found in burning SUV in stranger's driveway

DETROIT (WJBK) - Detroit police are investigating after a body was found in a driveway, burned beyond recognition. The homeowner claims they know nothing about what happened. 

Police say a woman called 911 to the 10200 block of E Outer Drive after discovering an unknown GMC SUV on fire in her driveway. A Detroit fire crew responded just before 3 a.m., and, after putting out the fire, discovered the body inside. 

Authorities aren't sure of the victim's identity at this time. 

Authorities on scene say they found some shell casings near the car, so they are treating this as a homicide investigation until they determine otherwise. 

The Medical Examiner's body is working to determine the victim's identity and cause of death.
