Bold thieves break into east side homes as residents sleep
DETROIT (WJBK) - The search is on for the bold criminals sneaking inside people's homes while they sleep.
The people FOX 2 spoke to are not only shocked and scared they are thankful no one was hurt.
The incidents happened sometime early Thursday morning to two homes on French Road near Gratiot and north of I-94 on Detroit's eastside.
Bianca Mayfield's mother discovered they had been robbed when she woke up in the morning and went downstairs.
"The TV was gone and that's when she noticed she was robbed," said Mayfield. "They took the car right out of the driveway, they took personal items, rent money, Social Security, medicine, everything."
And next door, a very similar story.
"I've got three kids in the house and two dogs," the neighbor said. "My dogs didn't hear anything so he was mighty quiet."
In both home invasions the thief or thieves got in through small windows. One neighbor says his window was unlocked but Mayfield says her was locked.
They both fear what would have happened if they or someone else would have waked up and gone downstairs.
