The younger brother of Lt. Gov. Brian Calley is suspected in a hit and run incident of a woman in Ionia County Wednesday.

John Calley, 26, of Lyons, was believed by police to be involved in an accident at Pilot service station on M-66 in Orange Township, according to the Ionia County Sheriffs Office.

At 5:08 p.m. a 24-year-old woman from Ionia was "dragged and possibly run over" by Calley's vehicle, the sheriff's office said.  The woman was a passenger in the vehicle just prior ro stopping at the station.

Calley had stopped and went inside the staion, came out and pulled away. It was then when police say the woman tried to get back into the sport utility vehicle and was dragged.

The relationship between Calley and the woman is not known.

Sara Wurfel, a spokesperson from Gov. Rick Snyder's office, said that Calley is a suspect.

"Beyond that, it's a police and family matter," she said.
