Bystanders block traffic for girl, 13, hit by car on Eight Mile

WARREN, Mich. - A 13-year-old is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle in Warren

The girl was struck by a car at Eight Mile near Ryan Monday afternoon. About 20 bystanders stood around the body to block other cars from hitting her as they waited for first responders. 

She was not using a crosswalk and was cutting across eight lanes of traffic with a group of friends.

The girl has been taken to Detroit Children's Hospital of Michigan. 

The sister of the victim spoke to FOX 2 and said numerous people tried to help at the scene. 

The driver stopped and is cooperating with police.
