Can Lions, Matt Patricia move past the controversy?

The Lions and new coach Matt Patricia is playing defense after a sex assault indictment from 21 years ago was unearthed by the Detroit News.

Yes, he's legally innocent. But did Patricia and the Lions do enough in that news conference today to move past the controversy. 

Should the Lions have done a better job of investigating his past? Did Matt Patricia have an obligation to speak up before now?
