Authorities closed a portion of southbound I-75 closed Thursday morning near M-59 due to a car fire.

We're told a construction pick-up was hauling extra diesel fuel in the bed of his truck, causing the fire. No injuries were reported.

The northbound lanes reopened just after 9:30 a.m. The southbound lanes reopened just before 11 a.m.

An excavating crew was at the scene lifting up the median wall, allowing for traffic to clear the area.

Diesel fuel spilled on the highway, creating a Hazmat situation. Crews spread sand to absorb the fuel.
