Chevrolet has a new music star for its commercials.

The General Motors brand has announced local star Kid Rock is out and country music star Luke Bryan is in.

It is a three year deal with Bryan. Chevy sponsored Kid Rock's summer tour last year which was met with some controversy over Kid Rock's use of the Confederate flag in shows years ago prior to the partnership.

A Chevrolet spokesman says this deal with Bryan is to market the brand as a whole to country music lovers - not just trucks.

Chevy says its relationship with kid rock is still a friendly one.

In a statement Friday:

"Chevrolet has enjoyed its relationship with Kid Rock, both sponsoring his 2015 summer concert tour as well as collaborating with him on the creation of his customized 2016 Silverado 3500HD that we displayed at the SEMA show in Las Vegas. While our business arrangement concluded at the end of 2015, our relationship remains amicable.”
