Couple charged in death of 16-month-old baby in Hamtramck
HAMTRAMCK, Mich. (WJBK) - WEB UPDATE: A couple has been charged in the death of a 16-month-old infant.
Christopher Scott Olinger, 23, and Asia Markham, 27, both of Hamtramck have been charged in the death of her daughter, Amina Markham.
Olinger and Markham have been charged with first degree murder and child abuse first degree. Both defendants are expected to be arraigned tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. in 34th District Court in Romulus.
Police say the medical examiner says the baby died from blunt force trauma to the chest.
Hamtramck police took them into custody after a 16-month-old baby girl died from injuries she received earlier this week.
Police say the girl was taken to the hospital earlier this week after police received a call about an unresponsive baby.
Police arrived at the home and the baby was taken the hospital for treatment for her injuries. According to police, the young girl died from those injuries.
