Dad charged after son shoots and kills brother, 4, in Roseville

The father of two children, one of whom found a gun and shot and killed his 4-year-old brother, has been charged in the young child's death.

Gary Chang, 27, was arraigned late Friday afternoon on child abuse charges in the death of his son who was shot and killed in the basement of a home Friday morning.

The shooting happened Friday just before 9 a.m. at a home in the 15000 block of Dort Street, which is near Frazho and Hayes roads.

Police originally believed the 4-year-old boy shot himself after finding the gun. Investigators later determined that one of the boy's older siblings pulled the trigger.

We're told several other young children were in the home when it happened.

Authorities say Chang and his family are in town from Wisconsin visiting family. Investigators say he brought the gun to Michigan and left it unsecured. That's when one of the children got ahold of the gun and shot the boy.

His bond has been set at $150,000 and will be required to wear a tether if he makes bond.
