Detroit police adding ATMs at some stations
Detroit police are working to keep neighbors and businesses safe by adding ATMs inside their precincts.
The machines aren't operable quite yet, but should be accessible in a few days. They'll be in the lobbies of six police stations and one detention center, which assistant chief James White says will be primarily used for bonding.
ATMs can also only be accessed by going through security.
DPD precincts are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Police say this initiative will also help prevent crimes, like the all too common ATM smash-and-grabs.
Locations will be:
2nd Precinct, 13530 Lesure
4th Precinct, 4700 W. Fort St.
6th Precinct, 11450 Warwick
9th Precinct, 11187 Gratiot Ave.
11th Precinct, 5100 E. Nevada
12th Precinct, 440 W. Seven Mile
Detention Center, 17601 Mound Rd.
The ATMs come in partnership with Comerica Bank.
