Detroit police officer accidentally shoots self while using bathroom

    • A Detroit police officer is receiving treatment after accidentally shooting himself Friday morning.
    • Police said the officer was using a bathroom inside a county building when the accidental discharge happened.

DETROIT (FOX 2) - A Detroit police officer accidentally shot himself while using a bathroom at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center early Friday.

Police confirmed that the officer was inside a bathroom at the county building when the accidental discharge happened.

The officer suffered a gunshot wound to the lower torso. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

An investigation is ongoing.
