Detroit Police say that a pothole was not to blame for a fatal one-car crash early Tuesday morning.

Investigators say that high speed and rainy conditions were the causes in the accident, that killed a 22-year-old male passenger inside a Ford Focus.

The crash happened on E. McGraw and Martin, when the 22-year-old female driver lost control and crashed into a utility pole. She suffered serious injuries, while her passenger riding in the front seat died at a nearby hospital from his injuries.

Early on in the investigation, police said that a pot hole may have been the cause. Detroit police said that it is not the case.
