Driver runs out of gas in middle of road after speeding past police at 150+ mph in Royal Oak
ROYAL OAK, Mich. (FOX 2) - A driver in a Dodge Charger Hellcat blew past Michigan State Police troopers on I-696 just before running out of gas early Sunday.
The driver was going at least 150 mph when he passed troopers on I-696 near I-75 in Royal Oak at 2:15 a.m.
Troopers lost sight of the car. However, they found it minutes later on Greenfield Road near I-696. The driver, who was described as "highly intoxicated," was pushing it into a parking lot because he ran out of gas in the middle of the road.
The 29-year-old Oak Park man was arrested for reckless driving and driving under the influence.
