Family positively identifies body of Kajavia Globe
DETROIT (WJBK) - The search for a missing woman with a promising future, who was once enrolled at Wayne State University, has reached a tragic end.
A body believed to be that of 24-year old Kajavia Globe was found Monday behind a house on Fielding, just south of Seven Mile.
Positive identification was made Tuesday morning by family. The Wayne County Medical Examiner is still working to determine manner and cause of death.
Monday police released pictures of a masked man in Globe's car using her ATM card at the Fifth Third Bank on Telegraph off Seven Mile.
Now it is a matter of finding who was wearing it.
Police are hoping someone recognizes the mask in an ATM photo so they can figure out who was hiding behind it.
Assistant Police Chief Steve Dolunt says there were no obvious signs of trauma.
"It's pretty dark out here and it's been raining all day," Dolunt said. "I don't think the body has just been there today. I think it's been there for a couple of days, so it's kind of hard to tell right now. Once the Wayne County Medical Examiner does a thorough investigation we can determine the cause of death."
Globe's relatives and friends got to the scene a little after 6 p.m. Monday evening - their worst fear seemingly realized.
"This is unreal," said one family member. "She's a beautiful girl, a good girl. Any parent would want to have her as a daughter, as a sister. Anyone. They didn't have to do this to her."
Globe was last seen Friday afternoon. Her gold 2003 Chevrolet Impala was found Monday morning near Keeler and Chatham. Inside were signs of foul play.
"Somebody knows something," said the relative. "Somebody on this block, in this community, somebody knows something. You cannot just say you didn't see anything."
From what I understand this young lady was really going places," Dolunt said. "She was a bright young lady, attractive, just got promoted. Somebody had a problem with her, I don't know what it is."
"There a couple of people we're interested in and I'll just leave it at that," Dolunt added.
Globe's family tells Fox 2 she was recently enrolled at Wayne State University, and was hoping to complete her degree some day soon.
