Father, son die after falling through ice into Alderman Lake
HIGHLAND TWP., Mich. (WJBK) - UPDATE (4 p.m.) Both victims have been identified by police. The 30-year-old man is David Michael Lyons, a Highland Township resident and the second person is his son, 4-year-old Jackson Lyons, also of Highland Township.
A man and his young son have both died after being pulled from Alderman Lake Monday morning, FOX 2 has confirmed.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Marine Patrol and Water Rescue Division says the two went under the ice near the Alderman Lake Boat Landing, which is off Harvey Lake Road just north of Highland Road in Highland Township.
Both were immediately rushed to the hospital after the rescue.
We're told the man looks to be in his 30s, and the boy is 4 years old. The rescue division confirms the two are father and son.
The fire department tells FOX 2 the two were ice fishing about 350 feet away from the boat landing. There are conflicting time reports right now about how long the two were underwater before being pulled out.
