Fire breaks out at Flat Rock Assembly Plant

Fire crews are at the scene of a fire at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant Tuesday night.

According to Flat Rock police, plastic and cardboard covering car parts on outside racks caught on fire and spread to the inside of the building.

The incident happened at the Ford complex at about 7 p.m. No injuries have been reported.

Woodhaven, Rockwood and Flat Rock fire departments are assisting in battling the blaze. 

Ford released a statement: 

"No one was injured when a fire broke out on the exterior of the building of Flat Rock Assembly Plant around 7:00 p.m. A corner of the building caught fire and employees in that area were quickly evacuated. The cause of the fire is under investigation."
