WESTLAND, Mich. (FOX 2) - Firefighters battled a fire at a Westland apartment complex Friday morning.
Crews were called to Woodview Condominiums in the area of Central City and Newburgh around 5:15 a.m. on reports of a fire. When they arrived, they found flames coming out of the roof of the building.
An hour later, flames were still reigniting. Firefighters could be seen inside searching after the fire was eventually extinguished before 7 a.m.
"We lost eight units," Westland Fire Chief Darrell Stamper said.
No one was injured. The fire department is working with the American Red Cross to help the displaced residents.

Apartment fire displaces Westland residents
Eight units at a Westland apartment complex were destroyed Friday morning. The fire department said it is working with the American Red Cross to help the 10 to 12 people who are now without homes.
