Firefighters rescue residents from burning apartment building

DETROIT (WJBK) - Some residents have been forced out of their homes after a fire on Detroit's west side.

The fire happened early Thursday morning at the Barclay Apartments on Schaefer Highway, just south of Eight Mile Road.

Fire crews say they had to rescue several people inside. No serious injuries have been reported.

The fire is out now, but Schaefer Highway is closed in both directions.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
