Google to open new office next to Little Caesars Arena
DETROIT (WJBK) - Google is officially coming to the Motor City.
After announcing last month intentions to move downtown Detroit, the company reports Monday it has signed a lease to move right next to the Little Caesars Arena.
"The city of Detroit has a rich history of culture and innovation, and we're excited to be a part of its world class talent and world class companies," said Danielle Russell and Guy Schueller, co-site leads for Google Birmingham. "Our new space will not only provide room for future growth, but will also give us the opportunity to contribute to the dynamic economic and community activity happening in Detroit."
Google moving from Birmingham to downtown Detroit
Over 100 employees will be moved into the new spot at 52 East Henry Street, which covers 29,178 square feet. That'll make for a total of over 600 Google employees between this location and its two others in Birmingham and Ann Arbor.

"Google joins other world-class organizations in the Detroit Pistons, the Detroit Red Wings, the Detroit Tigers, Olympia Entertainment, 313 Presents, the Mike Ilitch School of Business at Wayne State University, Little Caesars Pizza and others who are bringing new development, jobs and innovation to this critical area in our community."
The company says the Michigan moves represent a push beyond Silicon Valley. Offices have recently opened or are opening in Chicago, Miami, Austin, Texas, and Boulder, Colorado.
