Family baffled by man's murder charge in Hazel Park

The family of a 43-year-old man charged with murdering his sister and nephew was left without words after his first appearance in court in Hazel Park.

The brother of a Hazel Park woman is now facing murder charges after he allegedly killed both his sister and nephew.

Ladamien Keith Hill, 43, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the Sept. 1 deaths of 41-year-old Linda Hill and 12-year-old Kardi Jackson.

Appearing in court on Friday, he stood mute while the judge entered a not-guilty plea. According to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office, he has seven children, works as a roofer, and currently lives with the mother of one of his kids.

He has a long history of criminal convictions, including multiple offenses for assault, domestic violence, possession of a controlled substance, and felony firearm.

The judge denied his bond and he'll be back in court on Sept. 16.

Disturbing New Details

Hazel Park police say they first identified Ladamien Hill as a suspect after he entered the home on Berdeno Street once law enforcement had finished investigating the property.

Officers first spoke to Linda HIll's uncle, who lived in the basement of the victim's home, who told them he had been living in the basement at the time of the murder. He heard loud noises on Sept. 1 and went to see what happened about 15 minutes later. He had found the victim with her throat cut by a knife.

Police had reviewed video that showed a red Lincoln leaving the address.

Family was interviewed for possible leads and after the Oakland County Sheriff's Crime Scene Unit processed the scene, access to the home was returned.

Police were later informed by family that Linda's brother had returned to the home, walked inside uninvited, said "forgive me" and walked into the victim's bedroom. A press release from police said he laid on her bed naked for 10 minutes before leaving.

He was later tracked to a residence in Pontiac and arrested. Blood evidence was found in his vehicle. He declined to be interviewed by police during his arrest.

What we know:

Linda Hill and her son, Kardi, were found dead with their throats slashed inside a home in the 23000 block of Berdeno Avenue.

Ladamien Hill, who is from Redford, was arrested Tuesday evening in Pontiac.
