A warning has been issued for a man claiming to be with Oakland County Emergency Operations Center.

Homeland Security says the imposter claims to be a representative from the emergency operations center working on the Great Lakes Water Authority water main break. It says he has been calling facilities impacted by the break, telling them to evacuate.

A large water main broke Monday evening in the 14 Mile Road and Drake area, causing water shortages and boil water advisories to 12 different communities in Oakland County.

Homeland Security says there are no official evacuation orders at this time.

"If a facility receives a call from any individual claiming to be from the EOC directing them to take any particular action, it is welcome to call the EOC at (248-858-5300) to determine whether the information is factual."

Those communities under the boil water advisory include:

Bloomfield Township
Commerce Township
Farmington Hills
Keego Harbor
Novi: city water shut off by Water Authority. Water being given out at Novi Civic Center to elderly residents and those in need
Novi Township
Oakland Township: specifically the subdivisions: The Hills of Oakland and Kings Pointe

Rochester Hills: north of Hamlin and west of Livernois
