Inkster Dollar Tree stabbing leaves woman hospitalized, suspect in custody

INKSTER, Mich. (FOX 2) - One woman in Inkster is in the hospital after being stabbed multiple times in a Dollar Tree.

Inkster police say at 3:15 p.m. at a Dollar Tree near Cherry Hill and Inkster Roads, a 62-year-old woman was inside shopping when she was attacked by a 22-year-old man with a knife. Witnesses told police that the attack was unprovoked. Officials stated that the suspect allegedly retrieved a knife from the store and stabbed the woman multiple times.
The man was arrested, and the woman was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.
"This incident is a disturbing act of violence, and we want our residents to know that violence of this nature will not be tolerated in the City of Inkster," Inkster police said in a statement. "Every person should be able to shop, work, and live in our community without fear of becoming the victim of a random act of violence."
An investigation is ongoing.
