1 injured after vacant Detroit church catches fire

Fire ripped through an old Detroit church early Monday.

The vacant and currently for sale Body of Christ Christian Center on Ohio just off of Grand River caught fire just after 4:50 a.m. Firefighters were forced to battle the flames from outside after the roof collapsed.

1 injured in vacant church fire in Detroit

One person suffered smoke inhalation and minor burns when a vacant church caught fire early Monday in Detroit. Fire officials said that person was squatting inside the building.

A person, who had been squatting inside the church, was found in a building adjacent to the church. They were suffering minor burns and smoke inhalation, according to the Detroit Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is unknown, and it is unclear if anyone was inside the building when the fire started.
