Macomb County corrections deputy charged with criminal sexual conduct with inmate

A 25-year-old male corrections deputy with the Macomb County Sheriff's Office has been charged with criminal sexual conduct involving a female inmate.

The MCSO reports that on March 22, a female inmate reported to staff that she engaged in sexual relations with a male deputy, including digital penetration on three separate occasions.

Detectives with Macomb County investigated the complaint and found evidence that corroborated the inmate's statements.

The corrections deputy was charged with fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct (force or coercion). He is scheduled to turn himself in Friday to the 41-B District Court of Clinton Township.

The MCSO said he is no longer employed with the sheriff's office.

"It is our job to not only protect the citizens of Macomb County, but to also protect the inmates housed in the Macomb County Jail," Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said in a release. "Our agency is filled with hard working individuals that possess ethics and integrity; men and women that come to work each day knowing that they are dealing with the people that society fears. ... We did not hesitate to take action in either case and thorough investigations were completed.  The results of these investigations were turned over to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office with requests for criminal charges.  It is highly unsettling to know that our staff members have acted criminally, tarnishing the reputation that our hard working men and women strive for every day. We will continue to work to the best of our abilities, stay transparent, and keep the trust of the citizens that we serve."
