Macomb County deputy crashes into drunk driver who ran red light (VIDEO)
MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. (WJBK) - Macomb County Sheriff's Office has released surveillance video of an accident Saturday where a deputy crashed into a suspected drunk driver who ran a red light.
The deputy, a 17-year veteran of the department, traveling south on Vandyke early Saturday morning. When he came upon 29 Mile, the light was flashing yellow in his direction and flashing red for traffic on 29 Mile Road.
As he crossed the intersection, he t-boned a 2010 Ford Edge that was heading west. The deputy was taken to Troy Beaumont with non-life threatening injuries. The driver and car in the Edge were not hurt.
Deputies investigated and report the driver was drunk and ran through the red light. The driver, a 27-year-old from Sterling Heights, had a blood alcohol content of .12.
She was taken into custody.
