Man arrested for dragging dog behind bike, 6 other dogs removed from home

An arrest has been made of a suspect accused of dragging a dog while on a bike and beating the animal on Detroit's west side.

Detroit Pit Crew says witnesses on Beard Street near Chatfield reported seeing a man dragging a dog violently behind his bike with an extension cord around the animal's neck. FOX 2 brought you the story yesterday, click here.

The 7- or 8-year-old German Shepard, now named Justice, also suffers from arthritis in his back, and doctors discovered what appeared to be a bullet inside his abdomen.

One witness said the man kept hitting the dog, yelling at it to get up and get going. Witnesses stepped in to help the unconscious animal.

Police say the man, who's identity has not yet been released, was living in a house in the 4000 block of Tarnow for several years without heat, water or utilities. 

Detroit Pit Crew removed 6 other dogs from the home that were living in poor conditions.
