Man douses teller with gasoline during Warren bank robbery

WARREN, Mich. (WJBK) - A bank robber in Warren walked in with a water bottle full of gasoline and dumped it on a teller during a robbery Wednesday morning, police said.

According to Warren Police, around 10 a.m., a man walked in to the Huntington Bank at 10 Mile and Schoenherr carrying a water bottle with gas in it. He asked for the manager and then sprayed the female employee with gasoline.

He told the woman to give him cash or he would set her on fire. She complied and gave him about $4,000 in cash that he put into a duffel bag. The gasoline was not lit and the man ran out of the bank on foot.

The man is described in a press release as being black, between 20 and 30 years old, wearing gray sweatpants, a black hoodie, black puffy vest, a blue and gray baseball hat, and with medical gauze taped to his face to disguise his appearance.

The woman was not injured in the robbery.
