Man hospitalized after being hit by car near Macomb Mall

A portion of Gratiot Avenue near Macomb Mall was closed down for much of Friday morning as police investigated an accident.

Roseville police say a man was hit by a car around 5 a.m. Friday just south of Masonic Avenue. He was trying to cross the street and it was dark out at the time.

"The accident took place between traffic lights, so the area where the accident took place wasn't controled by a traffic light," says Roseville Police Chief Donald Glandon. The victim was not crossing at a crosswalk.

Police say the victim is a whit man in his early 20s, and that he was wearing a white shirt and dark pants. His name has not been given. He was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition at this time.

Police say the driver stopped at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Police don't think alcohol was a factor in the crash.

"At this time, there's no charges being brought against anybody at this time, but, again, it's a very preliminary investigation," says Glandon.
