Man robs $100K from armored car at Clinton Twp 7-Eleven

WEB UPDATE (5:16 p.m.) Police have arrested the suspect.

Clinton Township Police say a man robbed an armored car at a 7-Eleven in the city Thursday afternoon and may have gotten off with more than $100,000.

Police were called to the 7-Eleven on Harper Ave Thursday around noon after a man robbed the armored truck in the parking lot. According to Clinton Township Police, the man robbed the car at gunpoint and ran off with over $100,000.

Police said the armored truck robbery was the second robbery that the man committed on Thursday. Police said the first crime was at a car wash on Harper where he made off with $15 and a cell phone.

A few minutes after the car wash robbery, the armored truck was also robbed. In both crimes, police said he was holding a gun

Police have already found some of the cash a few blocks away. They say they believe the rest of the money is in a backpack inside a home a few blocks north of the robbery. They're waiting on a search warrant so they can look inside the home.

Police did not offer any suspect information at this time.
