Marching bands get chance to perform at Detroit Tigers game

Detroit-area high school marching bands are being offered a chance to perform at Comerica Park during one of the Tigers first home games of the season.

Comerica Bank is hosting the "March the Park" national anthem contest that offers the winning band a $5,000 grant to support its program and 130 tickets to the April 9 game. The band also gets the opportunity to perform the anthem at the game.

The contest opens Friday and runs until Feb. 26. Bands in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw and Livingston counties are eligible to enter. They should upload a video showing them performing the anthem to YouTube and submit it on the Comerica Cares Facebook page.

A public online vote is planned in March to pick a winner.
