Metro Detroit team 1 win away from Little League World Series

A metro Detroit baseball club is searching for just one more win to make their dream come true -- a spot in this year's Little League World Series.

A group of 12-year-olds from Grosse Pointe Shores and Grosse Pointe Woods are just one win away from heading to this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The team has made it to the Little League World Series three times before, including 2013 and 2017.

"They definitely blazed a trail for us but the benefit we've had was watching them and understanding what it took if we really wanted to make a serious run at this. It was time in the gym and time in the field," said manager Kurt Barr.

Playing on TV and under the bright lights is fun, but bonding as a team off the field is every bit as important for this group.

They'll play for the championship at 5 p.m. Saturday.
