Metro Detroit Youth Day brings thousands to Belle Isle

Thousands of youth are expected to be at Belle Isle today for the annual Metro Detroit Youth Day. This year, MDYD will continue its tradition as the region's largest single-day youth event by providing sports clinics, education stations, entertainment and workshops for students focused on anti-crime, anti-bullying, health and wellness, entrepreneurship and a free lunch.

There will also be "college row" where kids can learn about colleges and universities in Michigan.

More than two thousand volunteers will make the day happen, and about 250 corporate sponsors also help make the day happen. Event organizer Ed Deeb says this event takes a whole year to plan.

The event is from 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
