NABJ welcomes the public, raising money for future journalists

The Motor City has gotten a big score, thousands of journalists from all around the world will descend on Detroit for the National Association of Black Journalists Conference.

In just a few weeks, the conference will be held at the Renaissance Center, August first through fifth.

It's a premier venue for journalism education, and ahead of the convention, the organization wants you to participate.

There will be a “town hall forum” Tuesday, July 31st that will focus on diversity in newsrooms.

The free event will be held from 6 pm - 8pm at City Theater.

Immediately following that event, a fundraiser for Michigan students pursuing journalism, will be held at the "Budweiser Biergarten" at Little Caesars arena.

Tickets are 20 dollars and include free food.

The event is from 8pm until 10pm at night.

Detroit native, Shaun Robinson, a former Access Hollywood host will emcee.

You can find information on volunteering and both events below.
