Newborn found abandoned in River Rouge with umbilical cord still attached
RIVER ROUGE, Mich. (WJBK) - A newborn baby was found abandoned within an hour of her birth in River Rouge on Sunday morning.
The baby girl was found at approximately 8:17 a.m. near Alexander and East Great Lakes.
Officials say she was found within an hour of being born, with the umbilical cord and placenta still attached.
She was found wrapped in a blue blanket and laying in the grass by a woman working at an adult foster care home, who heard the baby crying.
They infant was taken to Beaumont Dearborn and is in good health.
Officials are asking for help as they search for the baby's guardian.
They do not have any leads at this point but are currently checking nearby houses for any surveillance video.
