Off-duty police officer arrested after altercation at wedding

An off duty officer was arrested for possession of a firearm while intoxicated and aggravated assault Saturday night.

According to police it was the result of an altercation that occurred at a wedding in the 10400 block of Livernois where the off duty officer allegedly fired a gun.

According to police no one was hurt, but internal and criminal investigation has been launched to determine what happened.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig said Monday afternoon that the officer has been with the department for three years and they are waiting on the Wayne County prosecutor's office to see whether she will face charges.

Craig says someone fired shots, then it is alleged the officer may have fired her weapon. He says they are not certain if the shots were fired in response to the first shots fired.

He added there was also an alleged use of a chair to assault another person.
