One dead after Ypsilanti block party shooting

YPSILANTI, Mich. (WJBK) -- One man is dead after a shooting at an Ypsilanti block party early Sunday morning.

Police responded to the area of Brooks and Watling Street just after midnight Sunday morning.  There were over 100 people in the street from an apparent block party that had formed.

People directed the officers to the victim, who had been shot in the head.

The 20-year-old victim was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The victim has been identified by police as Keandre Duff.

Duff was on probation due to drug charges but did serve nearly 300 days in jail on a murder charge in the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old at a party last summer.

Police know there were many people near the victim at the time of the shooting and they are asking for the public's help for any information that may lead to a suspect description.  At this time there is no one in custody and no suspect identified.
