One killed when hit head-on by car that crossed Big Beaver median
TROY, Mich. (FOX 2) - Troy Police said one person was killed Monday afternoon when a car crossed the median of Big Beaver and hit them head on.
Police said the crash happened around 2 p.m. near the intersection of Big Beaver and John R. According to police, a 2008 Mercury Mountaineer going west crossed over the median, into the eastbound lanes, and crashed into a maroon 2011 Ford Taurus, head-on.
Both drivers were rushed to the hospital in serious condition. The driver of the Taurus later died. She's been identified as 74-year-old Diana Zaccagnini of Macomb Township.
The other driver, a 53-year-old man from Troy, is still hospitalized.
No other cars were involved and nobody else was injured.
Police have not offered a cause for the crash.
