Overnight snow makes for a slow, slippery commute

Metro Detroit is waking up to a fresh round of snow this morning, making for a slippery commute.

Road crews are out, but it's still hard to distinguish the lanes in some places. Give yourself extra time this morning when leaving for work or school. You can see a live traffic map here to check your route before you head out.

You can also watch live traffic and weather reports on the 2s live on your TV, on your FOX 2 app or online at www.fox2detroit.com/live

A handful of schools were closed Monday morning. You can see a full list of school closures here

We're expected to see 2-3 inches of snow when it stops falling. Once we get through the morning, the snow will be done for the day.

Southeast Michigan is under a Winter Weather Advisory until 10 a.m. Expect widely varying and suddenly reduced visibility for drivers, which will add to already hazardous travel conditions produced by the overnight snowfall.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
