Pair arrested for trying to steal $20,000 in items from Somerset Collection: police
TROY, Mich. (WJBK) - Two people from Mexico are accused of trying to steal thousands of dollars in merchandise from The Somerset Collection.
Troy Police arrested the 47-year-old man and 25-year old woman last week outside Saks Fifth Avenue.
Investigators say one of them used wire cutters to remove a cable that secured some designer purse to a display rack while the other acted as lookout.
They allegedly collected about $20,000 worth of handbags and tried to leave the store. At one point, though, authorities say they realized they were being watched and they dropped the handbags.
We're told the two began to run to their car, but eventually stopped for police and were arrested.
