Two men walked into an east side auto shop and opened fire killing a man at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The scene remained active with police and a large crowd of bystanders nearly three hours later with at least 50 people standing outside the shop at Mack near Newport, crying, hugging and just simply in disbelief.

Distant sobs could be heard outside this garage as Angela Foster says her husband, 50-year-old Willie Foster, is gone.

"Oh my God, I know that it isn't true," she said. "I can't hardly close my eyes at night."

Police say that two suspects walked into the shop and began firing at Foster. Investigators are looking for a white Chevrolet Impala the suspects are believed to have fled in.

"They walked in, he had the gate open, they walked in," said Angela Foster.

Witnesses say it happened so fast they couldn't even process what was happening.

"Instantly like an in and out thing," said Candise, a witness. "I didn't hear a conversation or anything."

The family says the loving father and husband owned the shop for years. He was known well around this tight-knit neighborhood.

"He was a neighborhood guy," Candise said. "Everybody knows him. He fixes everybody's cars. Everybody talks to him, he's a nice guy."

Now his family, friends and neighbors are all asking who would kill Willie Foster.

Right now they say they're unsure what prompted that shooting. witnesses say they believe the men knew Willie Foster. Police also say they don't have descriptions of those alleged shooters.
