Police: Body found in Pontiac lake was shot multiple times
PONTIAC, Mich. (WJBK) - Family and friends of Emilio Valdez are in shock after his body was found in Pontiac's Osmun Lake Thursday.
Investigators say they were called to the park after bloody clothing was located near a dock at the lake, located in Stanley Park. According to the medical examiner's office Valdez had been shot multiple times and drowning was also a contributing factor to how he died.
When deputies arrived they say they discovered tire tracks and evidence of blood that lead to the dock. Investigators say they also found that bloody clothing reported by a 911 caller and the clothing appeared that a bullet had been fired through it
"It's a shock, it's really a shock," said Joseph Peters, a friend of the victim. "I was just thinking what was going through his head when all this was happening. He was a really cool kid. He was generous, nice, humble. One of the nicer guys."
Investigators say his family had reported that they had not seen Valdez since Wednesday, and he was last seen getting into a black Pontiac Grand Prix.
Waterford police said car parts recovered at the scene did belong to a black Pontiac Grand Prix and police had just recovered a vehicle matching that description from another nearby lake.
"His mom said he left the house and she hasn't seen him since then," Peters said. "There is a missing person’s report and everything."
Aaron Gonzalez says he knows the victim's family.
"He was just beginning life and now he's just a product of his environment," Gonzalez said. "And now it’s just another casualty in Pontiac, it's sad."
