Police: Man, 25, killed in suspected home invasion

DETROIT (WJBK) - Police are investigating the death of a 25-year-old on Detroit's east side. Police believe the shooting happened during an attempted home invasion.

Police say seven people were inside the house when the victim was shot and killed. It happened at a home on Vancourt near McGraw and East Warren around 3:40 Monday morning.

LaKeisha Wyatt, the victim's stepmother, says her stepson was heading downstairs to investigate when shots were fired through the window.

"Just whoever they saw first, they shot 'em," LaKeisha says. She says she doesn't know if the shooter may have known her stepson.

"We just don't understand what could have brought this about," she adds.

Police are asking anyone with information to give them a call.

No other injuries were reported.
