Police: Man attempted to lure child with puppy on Detroit's west side

The Detroit Police are looking for a man they say tried to lure a child to his vehicle with a puppy on the city's west side Saturday.

The incident happened Saturday just after noon, near a gas station on West McNichols Road, west of Telegraph Rd.

Police said the man was clearly seen on surveillance video from the gas station attempting to lure a 10-year-old boy to his vehicle with a black puppy in the front seat.

The incident was reported to police by two people. One of whom is the employee at the gas station who provided the surveillance video to police. FOX 2 attempted to obtain the surveillance video Sunday, but the Detroit Police Department declined to release the footage at this time.

The second person reporting the incident followed the child home to make sure he returned safely.

The suspect is described as a 6-foot-tall white male with a bald head and medium build, wearing a green jacket, black pants, and black sunglasses. His vehicle is described as a silver, newer model Dodge Charger with Michigan license plate number DPQ 0493. Police said the man had a black puppy in the front seat of the car.

The suspect is believed to live in Redford.
