Police: Mother, kids stabbed in domestic dispute

Detroit police say a man is in custody after a family was stabbed in their home on Detroit's west side.

A mother and her three children were at their home in the 12000 bock of Monica Street Tuesday night, which is near the intersection of the Jeffries Freeway and Livernois Avenue.

Police say a fight broke out when the mother asked Jeremiah Edwards to move out. Police say that's when he began assaulting her and stabbing her.

A 16-year-old boy tried to stop the attack but was also stabbed. A 12-year-old girl also received stab wounds to her face. A third child, 11 years old, was also injured. Police say Edwards kicked the girl in the stomach, knowing she is pregnant.

The mother is listed in temporary serious condition. The 16-year-old boy is listed in critical condition, while the 12-year-old girl is listed in stable condition. The 11-year-old girl who was kicked is also listed in stable condition.

Police say Edwards ran from the home into an alley, but was later apprehended.
