POLICE: Subject thought to be responsible for striking two pedestrians in custody

Royal Oak Police have confirmed that the subject thought to be responsible striking two people with a vehicle and fleeing the scene early Saturday morning is now in custody.

Authorities say on Saturday around 1:50 a.m., officers were flagged down about a disorderly group outside a nightclub in the area of Fifth and Main Street. Officers arrived and discovered two people had been struck by a vehicle. Paramedics arrived quickly to the scene.

After their investigation, Officers determined a fight between two groups had occurred earlier inside the basement of the Jolly Pumpkin, on S. Main Street. Security removed the two groups from the club and a male subject from one of the groups got into a Gold or Tan Buick Rendezvous.

Police say Witnesses stated the vehicle appeared to intentionally strike the female victim, turn, and then strike the male victim. The vehicle struck two signs and a parked vehicle before backing over the male victim again. The driver then fled the area.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing.
