Polly Ann Trail employee attacked, run over by man on four wheeler

A woman on a trail in northern Oakland County reported a scary encounter with a man on a four wheeler.

The woman is an employee of the Polly Ann Trail near Lake George Road in Addison Township. Authorities say she was putting up a sign on the trail when she saw someone on a four wheeler. Motorized vehicles are prohibited on the trail.

Authorities say the employee tried to take a photo of the offender, and he drove towards her and grabbed her, trying to take her cell phone. Authorities say the man then lost control of his four wheeler and ran into the employee's vehicle.

Authorities then say the employee hit the man on the head with her wrench in self defense. The man then drove off, dragging the employee with him for about 20 feet onto George Lake Road.

Authorities say the employee eventually fell to the ground and her leg was run over by the man. She was then able to use her phone and call 911.

Authorities found the suspect, a 53-year-old man, at his home in the 1100 block of Rowland Road. He was taken into custody.

We're told the woman's injuries are not serious.

"We always encourage people to be situationally aware, and know your escapes if something happens rather quickly, like it did in this situation. Keep your wits about you; know what you might do if you find yourself in a dangerous situation. All the circumstances combined, she did pretty well," says Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard.
