Report: Pistons in talks to move to downtown Detroit for '17-18 season
The Detroit Pistons could be moving to downtown Detroit for the 2017-18 season
Crain's Detroit reports that the discussions are underway for the Pistons to move to downtown Detroit in the 2017-18 season. The move will come in an announcement expected within the week as discussions continue, the report said.
The plans could still fall through, according to Crain's as Olympia Entertainment and Tom Gores and the Pistons ownership continue to negotiate.
The last time the Pistons played in Detroit was at Cobo Hall from 1961 to 1978. Last month word came out that Pistons ownership was involved in plans to build a 60,000-square-foot practice facility in Detroit.
The Pistons home opener is Friday against the Orlando Magic.
Media relations for the Pistons had no comment after being reached by phone Wednesday afternoon.
