The 12th annual Fight for Air climb to benefit the American Lung association was held at the Ally building in Downtown Detroit Sunday.

An event that Fox 2’s Ron Savage loved to be a part of. He died last year just one day before he was supposed to climb and serve as MC. A duty that Fox 2's Amy Lang has stepped in to do.

"It’s so bitter sweet because Ron was one of a kind, he did everything the best so big shoes to fill, but such an important cause and something that meant so much to him so it's really an honor to do it," Lang said.

400 climbers 150 of which are fire fighters and first responders going up in full gear raising awareness and money for the American Lung Association.

"Folks are here today climbing, they're here to make a difference they're raising funds for the American Lung Association. So they're here to help fund research, programs, and services for those that have been impacted by lung disease. It’s so incredible there are people that are here who are climbing in memory and honor of those that might have lung cancer, COPD, maybe someone who suffers from Asthma it’s such an incredible opportunity," Maureen Rovas said, Executive Director of ALA-Michigan.
